Overnight in Ankara

A travel blog entry by halliday on Aug 05, 2015

Not much to report today. We didn’t do much this morning in Goreme as we were recovering from the very busy day we had yesterday and we upped stakes and pulled out at 12.30pm.

Essentially our trip is all but over and all that remains is to get back to Istanbul and that's the end of it. Apparently Intrepid used to go directly by bus from Goreme but that’s a 12 – 13 hour bus ...

Other than that, we spent our time relaxing by the pool and sea at Casa dell Arte, a small family hotel in a quiet old fishing village. Mum had some wonderful quality time with the children, and Benjamin was back on form, fully recovered from his nasty bout of conjunctivitis, and finally eating again.

Down the valley go we

Late in the day, we reached Gerede and our bikes' downhill momentum through the town told us they weren't keen on stopping for supplies just yet. We rode right on through, and took a turning to stay on the D100 highway, riding a few kilometres before realising we were actually rather low on supplies. We pulled into a service station with attached restaurant, where we were soon ...
