Thursday morning, the Clarion hotel in Iowa City, and it's cold - 40 oF. Well wrapped up, we set off for Omaha, Nebraska, riding route 6 once again. We rode through downland terrain, under a pleated cotton wool-like canopy of grey and white stratocumulus clouds that kept the temperature below 50 oF. It was easy riding, though hot chocolate or coffee were the order of the day when we took our breaks.

... which is really handy. The one where we stopped was also an historic site along the Mormon trail to Utah. When we crossed the Mississippi River, we were in Illinois at Moline. In the next couple of hours we drove through Peoria and arrived in Normal. Tomorrow, Ruby, Jaimie, Jaimie's friend Krissy, and I are going to Chicago. Looking forward to ...

After getting up and around, Chris and Cameron joined Alex and I to go to the airport, but not before saying our thank yous and goodbyes to Lisa ...

... the honoree -- were the adorable "Republican M&M's" (red, white and blue) printed with "SID FOR SENATE" and the souvenir wine glasses with the same message and "VOTE 2014."

Sid spoke for a few minutes, took several excellent questions about Obamacare, and told the crowd that there are few feelings in the world better than knowing the people around you support you all the way.

... WOW! This is probably the most beautiful campus I have ever seen next to FSDB of course. They have walking paths complete with benches and lots of trees for plenty of shade. I tried to take some pics but it didn't do it justice. But I have to say I was impressed when it came to appearance. We drove through Omaha since its over the bridge. It's actually a really nice city complete with a huge sports complex. Tomorrow we ...
