... to the monastery of Thari to see its striking 11th century murals, then noodled back to Lindos through pine woods that have recovered nicely from a major fire in 1986.

Tomorrow we're heading home via Athens and London. ...

Mary, Shelley & Dan arrived in Lindos Friday afternoon and settled into Mary's beautiful home, aka The Museum. After a slow morning regrouping from our road trip, we headed to the main beach, which is paved with sun beds all summer but comparatively deserted now. Settling into Rosanna's Italian beach taverna, we ordered, had a swim, ate a delicious lunch of seafood risotto and fresh fish, and swam again. The aquamarine sea was clear and warm. We left our hotel in Turkey at 8:30 and traveled for about an hour. After a short coffee/tea stop we continued on to the ruins of Lagina. In the shadows of Turkey's first thermal energy site this area ...

... we arrived I had a message from Larissa and Victor saying they would come to town have lunch with me and then take me back. When we met a further 2 travellers were in tow and they were hosting the three of us in their family home. We took to a local restaurant and all tucked into some Gyros (pronounced Geros) which are basically Kebabs and just as tasty. The family were all amazing, so hospitable and friendly and also very ...

          Weather still gorgeous.
Why the title? This was a gorgeous short stop at this mountainous Island, 41 km N.W of Rhodes of 65.5 sq.km. The population of 2,580, which increases to 6,000 during the tourist season, is mostly engaged in tourism, fishing and trade. (In the 19th century ship building and sponge were main industries.) We arrived 5.00pm, sailing ...
