        Late this morning, after we had packed the car and given up hope of visiting Patrick (Paddy) Leigh Fermor's house, Mary got a call with the green light from the Benaki Museum in Athens. We walked there (half a mile along a public path) and were greeted by Elpida, supervisor of the house and Paddy's caretaker during the last 7 years of his long life. She showed us around (no photos inside) and told great strides with great affection for her old boss. ...

        ... that there are over 17km of caves. The route was very narrow, but it was beautifully lit. The water was so clear. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and we found ourselves comparing it to the glow worm caves in New Zealand and the caves of Halong Bay in Vietnam.

        We were back to sightseeing and we loved it.
