Today, we moved to a nice campground about a mile outside McMahan, TX. We picked the location since it was near Lockhart - what many consider the center of Texas BBQ country.

After we got set up, we decided to take the park manager's recommendation, and have lunch at the Whizzerville Hall Pizza in McMahan. It is in a neat old building that serves a great thick crust pizza as well ...

Schulenburg is an amazing small town with one of the best dance halls in Texas. If you ever can go, make it out to Sengelmann Hall, the food is great, drinks are cold, and owners are wonderful. Whether it's your sweetheart, good friend, or family member, it's a great place to go ...

No point riding the first lap or two in the daylight with them on me, so I just needed to get ...

We made our way south to the city of Gonzales which is called the "Lexington of Texas" because it was the site of the first skirmish of the Texas Revolution. In 1831, the Mexican government granted Green DeWitt's request for a small cannon for protection against Indian attacks.

At the outbreak of settler hostilities in 1835, a contingent of more than 100 Mexican soldiers was sent from San Antonio to retrieve the ...

... on Thursday afternoon, got set up, and went for a pre-ride. Had the trail all to myself and had a lovely "refresher" ride just remembering the trail. Thursday night I had brought some pre-cooked taco meat and the fixings, and just used the microwave to heat up the taco meat. Super easy. I was super happy to learn that the over the air TV channels came in very clearly at the ranch! It makes me a happy girl when I get to watch live TV on Thursday nights. =) ...
