Halo! This morning, after getting up, having a shower, getting ready, and packing, we arrived at the front desk to check out with a few minutes to spare. Overall, we were pleased with our accommodation at the Olivia Plaza Hotel. The location was fantastic! Basically, at the foot of Las Ramblas and the Barri Gotic Quarter and within walking distance …
Hallo! Getting a good nights sleep felt like a million bucks! Or in Europe, a half million Euro's! Upon leaving our hotel for another Barcelona excursion, we went in search for a cup of coffee. With no Starbucks in sight or any Tim Hortons, we zoned in on a McDonald's. I mean, McDonald's is a global restaurant. They're usually good for good ole cup …

Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Olivia Plaza Barcelona
The hotel is very sleek, modern and trendy, situated in possibly on of the best locations in Barcelona. We had a top floor room, (1007) which gave a fantastic view over Plaça Catalunya. Ther was also an nice biew from the back of the hotel over the Gothic quarter.
An excellent 4 star hotel in a great location! Right next to The Ramblas and handy for all sightseeing trips! The hotel opened in 2006 so everything is still fresh and new and it's a nice bonus to be able to sit in an outdoor courtyard with a cool drink after a long day on your feet! However, I would recommend this hotel for couples only and for fairly short trips. Bedrooms are ultra modern and there is a distinct lack of storage for clothes - not a drawer in sight! We basically lived out of our suitcases for the week! The bathroom too is ultra modern and semi open-plan to the bedroom with sliding glass screens in the shower and toilet area - not really suitable for a family of 3 including a 13 year old! We did work round this and it didn't really spoil our stay but I was pleased to see our next hotel on the Spanish coast had a "real bathroom" with solid non transparent walls!
Loved the Olivia
This is an excellent hotel. The staff are amongst the best we have encountered. It is located in the pl de Cataluntya, right beside the Ramblas and all other facilities. Try it!
I read some of the reviews, most very positive, some negative, my experience was excellent. The negative, okay maybe you could hear some noise from your neighbors. Also, because of the location, I had to pay for the downtown parking rates for my car which was over 60 euros for 2 days. But the positives far outweighed the 2-3 minor complaints I had about this hotel. All hotel staff was cordial and extremely helpful. Its an ultra contemporary hotel with the best location in the Gothic Quarter. Furnishings were comfortable with superb bedding and the room was spotless. The flat screen TV was an added bonus. My room was facing the rear overlooking a 17th century church and the rest of the Gothic Quarter. Absolutely beautiful! Again, spotless and luxurious room/hotel with an outstanding location makes this an excellent choice for couples needing a central location. Well worth the cost as compared to other hotels that I have stayed in while visiting Barcelona. Its a true 4 star hotel.
Moved here after originally booking the guitart almirante confortel hotel (obviously, terrible). Nearly turned around and walked out of the Olivia Plaza before asking the price because we assumed it was an incredibly expensive 5 star hotel. Luckily, stayed on and found out it was 120 euro per night. After viewing the room, we checked out of the almirante and were given the same room we were shown in the Olivia Plaza (simple, but unlike many other hotels where you are given a much poorer condition room after viewing another and deciding to stay).
I've been to BCN several times and have stayed at 8 or 9 hotels. My last visit was at the end of May 2006. I spent 6 nights at the Olivia Plaza and LOVED IT. You can't beat this hotel in terms of location. Secondly, it is a new, clean and modern hotel. The rooms were fabulous and the views of the Plaza Catatunya (and the castle on Tibadabo) wonderful. Seeing the sun set at night over Tibadabo was spectacular. The staff were also great and as a bonus, they speak English very well
The hotel has a lovely "terrace" on the first floor with views of the gothic church of Santa Ana. It's a quiet place to enjoy a glass of wine, cava or cocktail (or meal).
Based on my stay 2 weeks ago, would recommend the Olivia Plaza.
We stayed late April for a week in the hotel and had a great experience. Location-can't get better than that!!! right next to all the attractions. The hotel is new and the staff is getting out of their way to help. The breakfast is great (little expensive).
The decor is great the bathroom is super modern (European style).
Overall great experience.
Excellent location and brilliant staff
Stayed for 4 nights and found the service to be excellent. The hotel is very well finished and in an ideal location, very central for the metro links and very close to Las Rambles. Would recommend this hotel, as the staff could not do enough for you and were very happy to help with information on getting around Barcelona and where to visit.
Excellent location, very good service & excellent facilities.
