DAY FIVE: Mount of Olives
Today is Easter Monday, and for Jews the week-long Passover celebration is still going on until tomorrow. Our hotel seems to be on "lockdown" regarding anything that could affect the hotel's ritual purity; for instance, we observe signs in the lobby warning people not to bring in any food from the outside, tables at the bar and lobby are covered …
Jerusalem
Today we rolled into Jerusalem to begin our 5 night stay here. We began with a sweeping overview of the city as seen from the Hebrew University on Mt. Scopis. From there, we descended to the Dominus Flevitt (the traditional site where Jesus wept for the city of Jerusalem) and then to the Garden of Gethsemane. We then continued our walk to the …
Jerusalem, Day 2
Day 2 began with an aborted attempt to climb atop the Temple Mount due to the insanely long line of tourists. So, our intrepid guide postponed the visit and instead lead us to the traditional site of Caiphas's house and the potential place where Jesus was held the night before his execution. From there we visited the traditional site of the Upper …
Jerusalem, Day 3 and 4
Day 3 was a free day. We slept in and then made our way to the Jewish, Christian, Arab, and Armenian quarters for some shopping. Nothing terribly noteworthy occurred with the exception of a quick visit to a shop in the Jewish quarter known as Shorashim. We visited this shop 7 years ago when we came to Israel the first time and really wanted to …
Jerusalem, Day 5
Our final day in Israel began with a trip to the top of the Temple Mount. Last time we were here, we were unable to do this so it was a huge treat to get to. Once on top, we got a close-up view of the Al Aqsa mosque, the Dome of the Rock, the Golden Gate from the inside, and the traditional site of David's threshing floor where the temple was …

Historical Traveler Reviews Olive Tree Hotel Jerusalem
Nice hotel
I recently stayed at the Olive Tree as part of a tour group. The hotel is modern and clean. It is situated across the street from the American Colony Hotel and only a short walk to the Old City. Our meals were buffet, but we found the quality and variety to be very good. Unlike the previous re-viewer's experience, there were numerous desserts and we felt obliged to try too many of them! The only problem we had with the hotel was the staff. The restaurant help was abrupt and unfriendly. The front desk staff were worse. Several times what we were told was completely untrue and their rudeness was unbelievable for hotel personnel.
No volveré a llevar allí a mis grupos
Moraleja: no estuvimos nada contentos. Llevaré a mi próximo grupo a otro lugar en 2007. GL. El Paso, Texas.
Will not take my groups there again !
I had stayed there before with my groups from the US. On this last trip it was pretty bad. Especially the food. At dinner at least a couple of times there was no dessert, just 2 types of fruit. Everything in the dinning room was limited. They switched our rooms twice and in November they were really hot. Even the front desk and some employees weren't as nice as before... Some thing has happened and I think its needs fixing... Bottom line we were not to happy...Next group I take in 2007 we will stay some were else..... GL El paso, Texas
Wunderbares Hotel
Vom Olive Tree begeistert
Wonderful Place to Stay
I stayed at the Olive Tree for three nights in December 2005. The service was outstanding, the room was very nice, everything was attractive. The dinner buffet was fabulous. Dessert was out of this world.
My room was clean and comfortable, and the selection of TV channels was the best I saw during my week in Israel - not that I watched TV very much. But it was good to hear some current news from the States.
I was traveling with a tour group of 43 people, and on all counts the Olive Tree served us well. I would highly recommend it to all travelers in all categories.
Love the Olive Tree
The past September 2005 was my second time to stay at the Olive Tree with my group. The service is excellent, the food is outstanding. This is also the
feelings of members of my group.
I will always request this hotel for my groups while
in Jerusalem.

Enjoyed the Olive Tree
I stayed at the Olive Tree in April 2004. The rooms were modern and very clean. Staff at the hotel was very accomodating, and meals were excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
