... assumed that Moscow would be cold, grey, grim, and possibly even have snow. Again, how wrong we were. We stepped off the plane and walked straight into blazing hot sunshine (33 degrees). ... On exiting Paveletskaya station the roads were disorienting in the snow…and the dark….and the gauntlet of commuters that were criss-crossing our path what seemed like every step of the way.

We darted for cover inside a Starbucks and luckily found a very helpful employee who spoke good English and pointed us in the right direction.

As we were gathering our things to leave, a young man, maybe in his early thirties approached us.

We pulled into Moscow at 6am and decided to make the most of the early start by walking to Red Square before the tourist hoards arrived. ... After "The Great Patriotic War" as it is known in Russia, the Soviets built a massive heated swimming pool that apparently damaged the interior of Chekov's museum nearby. Yesterday I visited the grand view of downtown Moscow from Sparrow's Point. I've never seen a more interesting view in my entire life.
