... had been well worth the effort. The space inside is enormous and with many great bridges and viewing platforms it was hard to believe the business of the beach was only 45mins away above ground.

We would certainly recommend going to Piran, we loved the weather, the sea and the relaxing holiday atmosphere of the place. This is now easily my #1 pick of the trip so far. A place I definitely want to return too, perhaps on a super yacht next time ...

Today's route basically followed the coast road from Trieste (Italy) to Piran (Slovenia). Stunning coastal scenery of which the majority of it was flat but with some reasonably steep hills squeezed in between tiny coastal hamlets.
