In the remainder of the day we had a stroll around Pyrgos, the girls had a splash in the black sands of Kamari Beach and we headed back to Ammoudiou Bay, stopping for some late lunch at the restaurant Nikoy, perched literally on the side of a cliff. Stunning views and nice food.

We reach Oia again as the sun was setting and had a lovely half hour or so strolling around Ammoudia Bay and the trail ...

... because we walked slowly, took breaks and lots of photos. At times the route is on a cobbled path and at times it’s just a goat track. It climbs up and down and skirts the cliff edge at all times. It really is something to experience. Along the route are dotted a series of picture-perfect chapels. I was disappointed to find them locked though.

Although the walk is only 12 km, its climbs and descents make it very challenging, at least for us and we were completely buggered ...

... decided that we were staying with her and she wasn't letting anyone else steal us away. It turned out to a good choice, as the room we stayed in was perfect with our own terrace that had a great view. While Santorini is definitely the island for sightseeing, Ios is the place to relax and have a good time. It has great beaches lined with cafes and in season, there are heaps of bars that are absolutely packed with people. The following day was spent around ...

Tuesday wasn't much we packed up caught the bus and headed back to Athens, booked our ferry ticket and headed to the Island of Ios. We booked an overnight 10hour ferry with deck seats. This time we actually did sleep outside on the deck, on bench seats, but in a covered section.
