Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada peterpanda... there for a couple of weeks.

However we had to push on, and were rewarded further down the road when we saw a moose! It had just been spooked by the car in front of us pulling up, but didn’t wander far, into a pond to seek out some food. We loved seeing so much wildlife, especially in the one day!

Still following the Liard River, the road came to Summit Lake, so-called because it`s the highest point on the Alaska Highway, with an impressive view of Stone ...
Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada sarzmcFriday, July 17 - Whitehorse, YT, Canada - Day 3

Today the group is scheduled for a boat cruise on Schwatka Lake. It is a gorgeous morning, with just a hint of briskness.

We carpooled down the road past Miles Canyon and boarded the double decker boat, "Schwatka." The cruise took us down the same rapids that Jack London tranversed. The scenery was majestic.<br ...
Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada nocknock... Lake and Whitehorse. His selection of the Rancheria River route saved engineers hundreds of miles of highway construction. It eventually joins the Swift River at the Continental Divide, and then drains into the Yukon River. Actually, with the exception of two rivers, all rivers crossed between the divide and Fairbanks, AK drain into the Yukon River system. The Yukon then flows into the Dezadeash River and out to the Bering Sea and Pacific Ocean.

As ...
Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada dlpool... for tv and no internet. The family that runs the campground spends their winters in Mesa and we camped next to a family who has a son working in Apache Junction. Small world!
Our destination from Grand Prarie is "Mile 0" on the Alaska Highway and that is Dawson Creek.
It's been raining off and on most of the day and the wind is blowing like crazy, but we stop and take pictures.
Woody checks out the ...
Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada woodrowtucson... my tent...preferably in some quaint little spot beside a babbling brook, a river or a lake somewhere. And the plan was to swim or maybe do a little fishing along the way, too. As it turns out, I did stop at some beautiful spots, but I never did have any time for any fishing at all.

What I didn't think through very well when "planning" the ride were the enormous distances that I would have to cover and how much time it would realistically ...
Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada nwtmike... was the coldest in 35 yrs) Yes I know Neil... suck it up! We didn't get a lot of skiing due to the cold but snowshoed quite a bit. We waited till the full "heat" of the day and then hiked up to exposed ridges where the sun was shining. Cedar loves this activity in that we go slower than she does so she can tear around through the bush. She's going to be 12 in Feb and is still going strong. We took our turn at getting "out" in mid month and travelled to ...
Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada hcb... The only problem with grooming is that the club grooms in the evening and early morning 6:30 AM . I'm busy 4 nights/week so there aren't many nights left to groom. I'm not really keen on the early morning start but it is a great way to learn the trails. I went skiing on Oct 30 so I got more snow time than all of you !!!! I got another ski in on Nov 1 as well. I tell you it's rough getting older. The inside of my thighs are killing me. We got about ...
Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada hcb... with our destinations being determined by how tired I am of driving the Alaskan Hwy. Hope to cross into Alaska by the middle of the week. At the moment I am sitting in a great coffee shop (Baked) with wi-fi. Spencer (Mr. Warren) is off at the bank getting some more Canadian money as we are pretty close to bankrupt.......ha,ha. When he gets back I'll try to weave some photos into this entry. Hope all is good with everyone at Eagleville. Later....... Mr.S
Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada goawaypolarbear... chain link fence. She now has a kennel that is approx 30'x20'. I just have to build her a dog house. She likes being in it so we will feel better when we are away if she is in the kennel rather than just tied up at the door. We still have the cat. Nickel just about has Cheryl trained. We let him out at night and around 4:00AM he meows at the outside bedroom door and Cheryl gets up to let him in. I'm all for letting him stay out but the meowing gets annoying. Cedar and ...
