A little sleep in this morning, but we wanted to get out early coz it was going to be 36 degrees with about 93% humidity. Just a little bit uncomfortable. Tammy and I got back on the trolley and because we sat on the right side yesterday, we sat on the left today.
Jones Street must be one of the most picturesque. The trees create a shady canopy and the houses are gorgeous. So wish we could have seen inside them. We ...

The houses are beautiful. There are a lot that have been let run down but are now being restored. The council has made a rule that if you want to build within the old part, your plans must represent the same architecture and look the same as the old buildings. We were told which buildings were original and which were built in the 1990s for example. You couldn't tell the ...

... up covering the whole town before the morning was finished. Savannah's main area isn't overly large.

The rest of today was spent driving to tybee island beach and swimming and relaxing.
Gus and I are in our hotel now, and about to go to a great southern restaraunt here and get a traditional seafood dinner called a low country boil. It's a mixture of shrimp, corn Cobb, potatoes, beef sausages and blue crabs with garlic butter. It's all ...

Beautiful and historic Savannah

We had only one full day in Savannah and wanted to make the most of it. After catching up on washing, we rugged up and set out on foot. Our rental cottage was in the heart of the beautiful historic district and just around the corner from famous Forsythe Park. This park is home to a fountain which is visited by many as it makes for a lovely photo backdrop. After a few pictures and chats with people and their dogs - Savannah is a big ...

... end of the tour, when all the ‘historic’ houses and all the heroic deeds of the Charleston-based Confederacy heroes had been told, the bus passed a large concrete and glass office tower known as the Federal Building. It was empty, the guide told us, because it was riddled with asbestos. “Cay-n’t do nutthing’ with it.”

There were exaggerated cries of dismay and a gaggle of “Key-ant do nuttin’ widdit” echos, ...

If you are booking a room in Savannah, be sure to book with Olde Harbour Inn. The staff we incredibly friendly and helpful! The room was a complete surprise! We thought we were getting a standard small room with a queen bed and bathroom. Instead we walked into a hallway which took us to a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, and furnished living room over looking the river. The building is beautiful and conveniently located on River St!
We will be staying here again!
