How's it goin?? We had breakfast with the couple who checked in when we did, they are ex-POMs who came over in 1965, we chatted abouts loads of things its funny after so many years I could tell they still think of the UK as home but say it had changed, not for the better, last time they went back. They are hoping for change of government here, they see Howard as too much a Bush/US lap dog- sounds familiar? Time to move on again and after settling the bill its Marks turn to drive to Hobart. On...
Hobart, Australia arrophttp://www.john.chapman.name/tas-wa.htm l We had just almost finished the Port Davey Track, eaten the last bit of our hummus, and were sitting at the intersection sign ... 10km to trailhead, and the Western Arthurs standing behind us... and the land around us was scorched from a fire in the last year or so. Continue hiking through the burnt button grass of the north western Huon plains -- which could (would. did. and again on the way down.) get soot on our backpacks, or climb from 300m to 110...
Junction Port Davey Track/Alpha Moraine, Australia nadineWe arrived back in Hobart around 4pm, having had a private (seemingly) shuttle with David the bus driver from Scotts Peak dam back to our hotel, the Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel. I had found a reasonable deal online for two nights in a studio apartment at this fantastic hotel, and we weren't disappointed. We were on the 10th floor, in a large studio apartment with a kitchenette, dining table, couch, queen bed, washer and dryer. We had room to spread out all our gear and then some. We quickly...

... Market.

Salamanca Market, which occurs every Saturday, is a large affair with food, crafts, buskers and is considered Australia's best market. The range of crafts is incredible with local junk metalwork, clothing, wooden bowls and boards made from the many indigenous trees, glass work, gems, jewelry, fossils; and much scrumptious food - cheese, wines, scallop pies, organic vegetables, honey - I could go on.... All of this is ...

Hobart, Tasmania, Australia mamaxa... dinner we returned to the guesthouse and made the most of the complimentary port whilst attempting to play a game of Scrabble. Our last day in Tassie saw us make the drive north back to Devonport via the second largest town, Launceston. On our way Claire found a leaflet advertising fedding time at a wildlife park. In particular the main attraction at this small park was the Tasmanian Devils which we could surely not leave without seeing. Only problem was we were 100km from it ...
Hobart, Tasmania, Australia clairechris2008... in a place called Adventure bay but we unfortunately didn't see any as we weren't there at day break when they go in the sea or sunset when they come out. But the beaches there are the stuff of fantasy, spectacular. Adventure bay is on spit that joins north and south islands and has 200 steps up to a panoramic viewing point. We then went right to the northern tip Dennes point which was beautiful, we would have liked to spend longer there but sadly we had to get the 3:15pm ...
Hobart, Australia danskgirl... work at Tarraleah during construction but now travel from Hobart each weekend to cut the greens and play in the competition.....quite sad really. Arriving back in Hobart it was a bit of a shock to see so many cars after being around the rest of the country....managed to make a beeline to our accommodation for the next 2 nights (Louisa's B&B). It wasn't Louisa running the B&B but a bit of a battleaxe who originated from Newcastle and had a ...
Hobart, Australia tatts... secluded beach and ate our lunch on the rocks, watching the power of what looked like a VERY cold ocean. Spotted a massive dead eel on the beach and also identified a new species of bird - the Uber-seagull, named by one Mr Mitchell. They were massive! Now, i've forgotten the order of the next few days, but at some point we travelled way down South and spent a night in another national park - Hartz and also frequented the nearby Southwest ...

Apparently you can walk over to the island opposite (Penguin island) at low tide, but was not low tide when we were there. From Grassy Point was an uphill walk to the Fluted Cape. On the way back down, our wildlife highlight, an albino wallaby! We stayed for several minutes trying to get photos, but then he hopped away, so we finished ...
