I have only a 2 hour window to change planes in London so I was quite concerned that we would leave SAN at 8:30 pm. This British Airways plane has left later in the past and two hours isn't much of a layover for Heathrow which is a very large and busy airport. It arrived on time from London so we left right on schedule and arrived a few minutes early in London. Yeah!! Sat next to a couple ...

I guess it depends on the airport, but San Diego airport is pretty small and not necessary to go 2 to 3 hours before departure for international travel. I arrived at 5am and the flight was at 6:30am. Just enough time and especially with the new TSA precheck luck of the draw lines.

Oh and there was funnel cake. This is a dish made by drizzling doughnut mixture into the oil in a pie shape. The crunchy cooked dough is lifted out is then icing sugared and topped with strawberries, cream and ice-cream. For completeness we had one. Yum.

We visited the Beluga whales and the solitary walrus. Also the penguins ...

... your first problem. there is no sign saying WATTS PARTY OF TWO -- THIS WAY. The American way is far more confusing. The planners of the city prefer to sign post something from about five miles away, then let you get close before abandoning the whole signpost idea entirely. You are left in a strange place with zero idea of where you are in relation to your goal and have really got to develop a supernatural intuition for getting to where you want to be.

... I know I have brought up food a lot in the blog, and I shall not stop that now. The sushi here is amazing. Its so good, so gourmet, and cheap. I don’t know how this is possible but it is. We went out for a lunch (twice if I’m honest to the same joint..) and I’m talking 24 pieces of sushi with fresh salmon, crab, avocado, and the rest for 12.50 and this is in a lovely sit-down restaurant. This alone could make ...
