This is the start of out three week journey through 'Nam. Good morning!!

After getting off the bus, we found a taxi to take us into the old town of Hanoi, and after quite a bit of looking around, we managed to find some accommodation. Bad weather in the south of Vietnam (more on that later!) had led many tourists to move up to Hanoi, so the place was pretty much sold out, and we ended up paying more than we'd have li...

Today we had to get up really early to catch our plane to Hanoi, 6am I think I got up. Flight only took an hour, but at passport control I got told off for chewing gum - must be illegal or something! A guy from our hotel in Hanoi picked us up at the airport and it took about 30 mins to get back to our hotel.  The car was really nice he pick...

So, we we'd been scorned, scammed, snubbed and sickened by the way of the Hanoians, and guess what, we were stuck there for a few days! Doh! Jill left on Saturday, our big night out on Friday night was abandoned about midnight, as we were all totally knackered! Too many early starts I think. Even the boys weren't keen on a few more beers...this ...

Arrive in the big city at 5:00 am. Met a danish guy married to a Hmong girl and lives in Sa Pa ... will write later :-) ... Train from lau cai 223K soft sleeper bottom.

Saa, idag er sidste dag med turen, vi siger farvel til foerste medlem om 15 min., og det bliver ikke sjovt, da han er den ene del af et par formet her paa turen. Idag har ingen af os rigtigt lavet noget, sov laenge, spiste morgenmad paa cafe, fik ordnet cd'er med billeder, fik sendt en pakke fra posthuset og var saa ude til frokost med gruppen.

Hanoi..... is a crazy city. No really, it is. I am told that there are 3 million motorbikes in the city (for the 4 million people here), and I wouldn't be surprised if there are more. Traffic laws seem to be nonexistent -- I'm pretty sure nonstop honking of horns has replaced any signals. The traffic quite literally never stops moving. Forget wh...

Had a really good time in Laos, but time is running out so decided to make a bee-line for Vietnam...mission. Bought a direct ticket from Vietianne (Laos capital) to Hanoi, estimated time: a maxium 20 hours.
