          Trying to describe Vedauwoo

... It created a whole different effect.
I stretched my arms above my head and woke from the dream. Not sand castles. Vedauwoo. Magical, spiritual Vedauwoo. Whose rock formations looked just like the sand castles I'd dreamt about. Southern Wyomiong, so far, is wide open spaces punctuated with by unusual rocky outcroppings. None of them quite like Vedauwoo. Thankful to have stumbled on this ...

A nodded my head to many a steer on this route, but few people. A quick stop in Lusk (Wyoming) for gas and bathroom break. Yes, Lusk -- Cavan spent the night there! Weather is getting increasingly better. 50 degrees and hazy until Laramie. ...

Yesterday morning I went to see one of Laramie's main attractions: the Wyoming Territorial Prison. It opened in 1873, four years after Wyoming became a territory. It served as a correctional facility for 30 years, housing murderers, rapists, thieves - even a man sentenced to a month behind bars for "stretching the truth". A total of 1,063 men and women (yes, 13 women) spent time in the prison before it was closed in 1902, and ...

          Hotel Review from Laramie

... again if I ever make it back to Laramie.

I must say I have lucked out on hotels on this trip. The Travelodge in Gardiner was probably the least to my liking, but overall it wasn't a bad experience. I had no clue what to expect from this Days Inn, so again, I lucked out.

Two more nights of vacation in Denver, and two different hotels on different ends of town. This week has flown by.

          Long Day of Driving

A travel blog entry by edcraig on Jun 21, 2012

... Snowy Range highway. I think Wyoming is a beautiful state, but in the minds of most folks, probably the scenery today between just below Jackson Hole all the way to Saratoga was not that impressive. The big, beautiful mountains visible in Yellowstone and Teton were absent, and instead the landscape was dominated by rolling hills and shrubbery. Once I made it past Saratoga and starting driving the Snowy ...
