... A group of reservists from the North Carolina tanker unit followed us on our journey into the abyss. Reaching the mudside cliff and descending it were very strenous and had a very steep slope so getting down to the actual falls was very interesting but a lot of fun. The first falls, Lower Sigua reaches down 70 feet to the pool below. Its about 20 feet deep and maybe 30 wide at the most. But the water felt sooooooo ...
Yigo, Guam guamblog... the day. The wreck dive visited an old American tanker that was sunk to help build up a manmade cliff wall but sunk outside of its proper position. It is really well preserved however my buddy ran low on air fairly quickly so this dive was cut a little short. Our drift dive however was almost 40 minutes and took us down to 70 feet. I spent about 10 minutes playing with a huge 4 foot Moray Eel that we found in a hole ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... is the spot on Guam where Ferdinand Magellan landed in the 1500s and later settle in the spanish. I got some pictures I thought that were pretty humorous around the bay..
So not much to tell about the early morning haha we picked up at least a trash bag each along with several other guys in our squadron and patrolled a strip about 3 miles long. The locals were very appreciative and were giving out drinks (water) and tshirts for those who ...
... of the war with Russia and Japan. The Rjasan was taken to Tsingtao, China and converted to an armed merchant raider and renamed the SMS Cormoran after the original warship had serious engine failures.WWI History
On August 10th the "new" Cormoran left harbor and sailed throughout the South Pacific, spending literally all of her time trying to avoid the larger Japanese battleships that were chasing her all over the Pacific. On December ...
... the top of a cliff mind you and the entire trail is like a 60 degree upwards slope, so bushwacking would be real sketchy. After checking out several of these small holes in the trees and wacking down spiderwebs,, we found a hole with some Orange tape that usually indicates a trail. Lots of the trails that have been visited and do not have well defined paths have been occasionally marked with orange tape. The WHOLE trail was finding the ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... halpaa kaikki on! Eli suhteellista on kaikki.
Tumon, Guam travellerhans... don't understand why Northwest won't do international upgrades. I understand that many of their routes are full, but there have also been times when the back was full and there were empty seats up front. Continental is generous with their upgrades, even for Northwest Elite members. At the gate, I watched the last inning of the World Series with the security guards. One ...
Tumon, Guam srvance... Dinner is composed of sashami (raw fish) which I love. It is really delicious accompanied with vegetables and hot tea. Sodas are not common here on the ship unless one brings your own. In Japanese ships it is customary and polite to present the captain and chief scientist with a gift. We did so. Anyways it is all an experience, a research experience, a culture experience that helps me to expands my understanding ...
Tuam Bay, Guam wildexplorer... with a group of people I had never known. They took me to a local festival where an old guy sang karoake with complete disregard for human ears. Yes, I too sang karoake one night and it wasn't pretty either. A few beers cured my perception of my own voice. There wasn't much to see in the city itself since it is so small. I collect Hard Rock Cafe shotglasses wherever I go ...
