... expecting the Everglades to be all water but we weren't in that part of the park. We saw mangrove swamps and rivers of grass and tree hammocks. It was interesting though and beautiful...and it was very windy today so there was no mosquito problem at all. Glad about that - we were more afraid of the Everglades mosquitoes than the alligators! We did see a large yellow snake that joined us on the boardwalk... he was a little scary ...
This morning started off with us heading out to the Everglades. Since it was Earth Week...it was free to get in the park...which is a cool idea for the Park Service. Who knew they had it in them? That's an inside joke for all of us FWS folks. HA.
We headed straight to the Anhinga Trail. We were all in good spirits this morning, especially Bob as he finally felt at peace as we left the maurading Junglefowl behind ...

November 14, 2012:We drove from Miami to Ft. Lauderdale. We flew home today from Ft. Lauderdale to Houston at 2:29 pm on United Airlines. We left there at 6:05 pm and arrived in Portland at 8:52 pm.
