Walked to Matsumoto castle, an amazing old wooden castle, shoes off, and walked up the 6 levels. Some stairs were very steep, almost vertical. Beautiful manicured gardens. We had ice creams under the vine covered pergola, and then went to the Matsumoto city museum, small but interesting. All tired and hungry went to ...

After breakfast and photos Mr Yumoto drove us to the train. We went to Nagano then ran to catch an earlier train to Matsumoto, this caused much confusion at the gate but we made it . Boys relaxed in the hotel. We explored the town - nakamichi street and nawate street. Found the best indigo fabric shop ever, and bought some treasures, was also given lots of fabric gifts! Dinner at an Irish pub - not that ...

Well, the city has a museum of scales, but it took me 10 minutes to see the entire exhibition. Actually less than 10 minutes, but I feigned some interest just out of respect to the owner of the place. Matsumoto castle was fine, but it lacks the grandeur of Himeji castle which I visited in spring. In hindsight I ...

I met Koji, whilst having dinner in a restaurant. We decided to do a road trip to Kamikochi and the sightseeing spots around the highlands.

Had an amazing day,the weather was playing along and travelling in a car for a change felt just like heaven :)

We finished the day off, by soaking in an outdoor hot spring. What more can you want!?! :)
