... the best part is that there are as many locals as there are tourists out enjoying the space and spectacle that is Copenhagen. Unfortunately we were again too early in the season, by a week to 10 days, to enjoy many of the landmark attractions like Tivoli, and a couple of the more contemporary museums, but on the whole very cool. Would like to go back in the summer on the bike, as there is heaps that we didn't see and/or walk, but will have to wait and ...
... afternoon. As we returned to Umeň we vowed to meet them again when we return.
Later we had a light supper with Tommy and Tina and then we walked from their apartment back to the Scandic. We followed the snowy path along the river and crossed the pedestrian bridge just a few blocks from the hotel. The crisp evening air filled our lungs and hearts with happy holiday spirits.
It was a really special day!
... and many other dishes..some a bit mysterious to my palette. The counters were groaning under the weight of this feast...and our stomach would do the same soon enough.
We assembled around the long table to join in singing a Christmas toast and dig into all of this special Christmas food.
A special thank you to Camilla and Lars for hosting our gathering and of course to Fredrik and Pia for including us in the family celebration. It was a very good Jul!
I'm a little behind with posting things. I'm having so much fun and we stayed up late last night so not much time to write. It stays light out so at 12:30 a.m. it feels like 8:30 p.m. - kind of just dusk. Sunrise is at 3:00 a.m.
I am posting more photos for my cousins. I took a picture of Eva's grandparents wedding picture and one of her dad Sven and an uncle. Also going to add more photo's of the church. I really enjoyed learning ...
... my great grandparents felt very at home in Minnesota as I feel very at home here. Enjoyed a lovely dinner last night, a walk to a lake close by and sitting on the deck visiting. I really love Sweden.
Here's one picture. I'll post more later. It's time for morning coffee. Listening to Jill Johnson and Olle and Kristin talking in Swedish in the kitchen. So fun to hear Swedish conversation. Something in the oven smells really good too.
