Oia Mare Villas

We had previously made some enquiries in the town about hiring a car and found one for just 20 Euros per day –what a bargain! So after a leisurely breakfast in front of the endless caldera view we headed off to hire the car. We started out for Akrotiri, the ancient village that was buried by ash thousands of years ago. Unfortunately it was closed and had been for some time following a roof collapse that killed a tourist. I was kind-of glad that it was closed if the ...

... the time we made it to Oia. Sadly, Oia was virtually shut down. It was a shame to see what is clearly a beautiful village present itself as a virtual ghost town. We eventually found one place where we could eat and we relaxed with a wine to distract us from the pain our feet were feeling. Unfortunately the famed sunset did not happen due to some low lying cloud. We’ll try again another day...

The next bus back to Fira was nearly an hour away so we called a taxi to take us home.

... on Greece, here is how the X-ray went: Brittany on X-ray table (with no lead blanket), 4 medical staff yelled "X-RAY!!!!" and fled the room, and the cameras started going off. After the X-rays, she was taken into the surgery room where at first the doctors were reluctant to let anyone accompany her.

However, Kelly was able to stay in the room while she got her 8 stitches. A young, bronzed woman in a swimsuit and flip flops entered the room to perform. Again, Brittany ...

... It was an amazing weekend! Then, last Monday (May 26th), Memorial Day, we went to see Indiana Jones at the movie theater in Pangrati. Although not my favorite movie, it was quite entertaining! On Tuesday, Kristina and I went to the Central Market on Athina Street. It was a giant open air market, with a lot of different vendors! It was fun to see, minus the meat hanging. EWW! Wednesday we went out to celebrate my roommate Jessica's 21st Birthday! Our friend Thalia joined us and ...

We were too tired to climb up the journey, so we took the cable car instead.

But the food is actually pretty good. It is from Greece that I learnt about Zucchini, and we ate plenty of them!

















I don't need to learn about beef, I can have them everywhere :p
