the flight to bali took about twelve total hours, with a total of six stops: 5 on tiny atolls in micronesia and the marshall islands, and one 24 hour layover on guam. the atolls are unreal, like ribbons of sand that look like theyre floating on the water; how they dont get swamped is beyond me.

... for more blogs this month as Im gonna try and dive as much as I can before I leave. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I can feel it to! Going from 86 to 36 degrees is going to be a blast!

BTW.. I also had a chance while joe was finishing his class to check out some WWII spots around the dive harbor. I found some old Japanese "pillboxes" made around a little peninsula. They covered them with rocks and set them up to try and ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... and "Vecky's Reef" which combs the outer edge of Orote point and we were picked up just before the harbor ended. Both dives were done as drifts meaning we just jumped in and followed the current until we ran out of air and the boat would find us and pick us up. This gives you a lot more time underwater and you don't have to worry about navigating. Right before you acend to the surface you fill up a "safety sausage" ( I know the jokes never stop)... which is an ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... to play with my canon so it was all good. The submarine showed up again at Gab Gab 2 but instead this time the joke was on us! The pilot chased us around for a few minutes and then finally left us alone. I think he may have remembered my swimtrunks! haha I did get some good closeups of Trevally Tuna and we saw some rare fish... including one with pink tigerstripes!
So for Saturday we did 1 coastal cleanup, 1 hike, 2 dives and made it to the ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... the top of a cliff mind you and the entire trail is like a 60 degree upwards slope, so bushwacking would be real sketchy. After checking out several of these small holes in the trees and wacking down spiderwebs,, we found a hole with some Orange tape that usually indicates a trail. Lots of the trails that have been visited and do not have well defined paths have been occasionally marked with orange tape. The WHOLE trail was finding the ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... to bet WET? On top of that: I do not feel so well. Have not for 2 weeks. I thought it was a head cold but Hubby says it must be an allergy. By now, I think he is right. It is so unpleasant to be sneezing up to 100 times a day. Have sinuses full of ants, itching noise, soar head and running eyes. Not to speak about the stuff coming out of my noise ... . But I deserted Tony already 2 weeks ago, so I kicked myself out of bed ...
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... 07082 302olyfe280.asp I gave Dr T the choice to buy a land camera now and I would buy him a decent underwater camera in Cairns. He says that the real good underwater cameras are big and heavy and very expensive. We shop for food for tonight and a new external hard disk: ours is full! Which we do not find to Tony's liking. We do find a toy he wants: a wireless detector. A tool the size of a memory stick. You can always check whether the ...
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... to the register and my question was answered. And it was $8.99 - $8.99! easily the best bargain in all of Micronesia, I'd be willing to venture. My unwillingness to leave anything behind (save for the pita wedges, nothing new there), made me reflect on my relationship with my stomach. It does a surprisingly good job of digesting large quantities when it really matters. I think I've finally grown into my stomach, or it's grown into me. We have a good ...
Tamuning, Guam living2travel... We left Oahu flew 7 hours to Guam and arrived last night. I have been up since 3:30 and JV since 4:30. These time changes can be quite the nuisance. We both are beat but somehow we were able to some great snorkeling. Guam is known for their snorkeling and diving and we saw some pretty cool fish neither one of us had seen before. Although Guam is built up and has a big military ...
Hagatna, Guam justincourt... get right to the fun. At 1730 (alright, 5:30pm, landlubbers!), I finally escaped and threw on my recently purchased Hawaiian shirt (the stock control officer went to Kmart or the mall and bought us the most expensive Hawaiian shirt I'd ever seen, $30, and quality did not match- what a jerk!). Why not a uniform? In the Navy, we try to enjoy ourselves in attire that can get damaged and stained without guilt when we are in ports. Additionally, the Guam Chamber of Commerce ...
