... Monkey enclosure. We have been to a lot of zoos around the world but the rumours proved to be correct about San Diego zoo, the environment the animals have is superior to any we have ever seen. One of my favourite bits of information was that the polar bears' water was set to 55 degrees Fahrenheit, 14 degrees higher than the arctic as they had become real San Diegans and got used to the amazing temperatures in this part of the world. ... a turn throwing the fish to the barking sea lions. Phoebe loved it. Blake was a bit more reticent, happy to leave it to the rest of us after realising they were real, smelly fish that we were holding. The first show we caught was the sea lion show - Clyde and Seamore, with their cute little otter friend O.P. It was funny; a pretty slick production. It really is amazing what the trainers can get these animals to do. We saw another show, too, called Pets ...
... of us (Mike, Amanda and Erika) felt safer swimming around the bluff to get out of the water at the beach. It was a rough swim and a great workout, but we made it! We swam by the seals and even had a couple jump in and swim behind us for a while.

... didn't materialize, but there were other things, conversations that occurred that I couldn't have even dreamed of or hoped for.... rich stuff. Stuff for life. I think the kids had opportunities to see themselves in different ways than they had before, in different circumstances....different perspective.
