Our first stop was to be Praia (Beach) Inglese on the Northern side of the island, but as the bus meandered its way around the northern island we got a little confused. Finally the bus came to a stop and we were told to get out. We did. I guess we have arrived. We looked down the hill of the street we were standing on and at the bottom was a stunning beach. Nice waves, turquoise waters, uncrowded. So we slogged all our stuff ...

We had decided to go tourist class because economy in this direction meant facing backwards. The train wound its way through the forest covered mountains. This was certainly the best mode of transport for the day. Luckily i didn't need to wear my anarak as the rain had stopped by ...

... and Ice. When you’re having your first beer at 10am you know you’re for the long hall or its going to get very messy very quickly. We lasted out the day very sunburnt and probably a little dehydrated.

That evening we met Wills friends Marco and his fiancée Chris. We went out partying that night and when the Brazilians drink they don’t do it **********. A bottle of Jaeger and plenty of beers later things got a little messy.

      After a big night ...
