Calm Before the Storm (Part One)

Having endured our flight to Brazil, we arrived in Fortaleza at 7:30pm local time and were greeted by instant humidity. It's also winter in Brazil and the darkness made the heat even more evident. In the build-up to the trip I had predicted that Lew's passport photo may cause one or two issues, though this actually happened quicker than even I had …

New place new friends. Fortaleza was cool because right when I got there we went out. Some Chileans brought a big bottle of pisco and before you know it we all were riding happy on the way to pink elephant. It's a popular expensive night club they have here in Brazil. Anyways the next several days it was pretty much the same. Fortaleza to me seems a little rough and unsafe. I'll admit I had a good time here and my portuguese is getting ...

Right on the beach we spent the next few days chilling out by our pool, reading, heading down to the beach for a swim and eating copious amounts of avocado. With a schedule of course built around the football we retreated to our villa for the games enjoying some time out from the pace of city life. A lovely few days in the sun relaxing, but next up back to rowdy Rio for the finals!! ...

Travelled to Fortaleza today, has been a rough day.. Our flight from Manaus to Forteza had one stop over in Belen however we didn't have to leave the plane which was so mint. We also bumped into Simon Harrison, a dude that went to Uni in Wellington. He was travelling with his family and was randomly on the same airport leaving at the same time and on the same plane as ...

... of this May have been due to it being away from the footy. Getting back to the hostel a bit later than planned we changed a jumped across the busy street to a restaurant to grab food and watch the USA Portugal game that we had planned to go into the fan park to watch. Venturing down to the fan park after we found it to be shut so Fortaleza was definitely not interested in the World Cup party! Working our way down the beach a little, and with Douglas working ...
