Another paradise island

... heavy seas were beam on all the way. The ferry rolled from 45 degrees on one side to 45 degrees on the other....imagine the pendulum on a grandfather clock - quadruple its movement and then invert it - that's how lovely the ride from Bequia to St. Vincent was. But we did it, and neither of us seasick - not that we didn't feel like it - just couldn't afford to let go with either white knuckled hand. But hey - there we were in Kingstown - St. Vincent!

Bequia was awesome

We had a great time on Bequia. It was a long trip over and back however, it was well worth it. We started our adventure out on June 17th in Minneapolis at 3:30 in the morning!! After 3 flights and a very adventurous boat ride later we arrived at Sugarapple Inn about 8:30 pm. We did ...

Keep Movin It --- Bequia Mon

Well we are back from Bequia!! but only for a short amount of time and me and cassie are off to Europe! We got in last night at about 12:30 and now we are leaving here at 8 am. Bequia was the most amazing experience I have had! The people down there were extremely friendly and would not stop dancing. We walked away with a lot of friends that took good care of us while we were there: Micheal ...

The trouble with doing nothing

After we put back in the water, we spent a few days getting our "sea legs" at anchor while finishing up preparing Quest for her shake down cruise to Carriacou about 40 miles northeast of Grenada. It was a bit of a disappointing sail - into the wind and against the current, but that may be the way it is until we head south again. These darn trade winds nearly always blow from the northeast at 15-25 knots and that's the direction we need to go ...

Pitons

Jump-up music played all night. Was still playing when we left Bay. Fairly crazy sail to Pitons. About ready to drop sail when motor wouldn't start. Chase boat came and taught us how to hot-wire it. Difficult time anchoring. Saw Bupa, the elephant, and his loyal chicken.

... immediately on return to boat. Watched mail boat come in. Whole town turned out for affair. At least twenty row boats swarmed to meet it. Passengers were handed down into row boats one by one. Some climbed rope ladders down. Wonderful fun.

to Tobago Cays

Gusty. Stormy. Left early for Tobago Cays. Very short motor-sail. Lots of reefs entering but no troubles. Many boats, from all over, including Switzerland (?). Winds and currents strong. Others went snorkeling but found it too turned up. Settled on boat. Spent great deal of time opening and closing hatches as squalls came and went. Howling winds. Paul and Sue swam outside reef. Said ...

... anchors out. Set bow. Set stern. Paul and Sue snorkeled. Unhooked bow. Moved it around. Not set. Retry. Looking good! Dinghied to shore. Walked along beautiful white sand beach. Quaint hotel with gorgeous view. Paul and I swam. Dropped Sue and Paul off in dinghy to snorkel near-by reef. Returned to hotel bar for drinks. Paul and Sue swam ashore. Wonderful shower on boat. After dinner, played Sue's video games in evening. Ah, wilderness.
