It was quite cold and cloudy when we got up, so with sweaters and long pants, we hopped on our bikes and rode on down about 2 miles to the harbourfront to catch the Block Island Ferry. Today was a day for getting lost. Fortunately we know where we are right at this moment - in a hotel in North Kingstown, RI. Tomorrow we may be lost again.
We started the day getting lost going to the Knights of Columbus museum in New Haven. It took a couple trips around the block but finally we found it. It is quite a large museum, very well done, telling the story of the Knights.
... s – and of course its such an American icon so we had to have one – sorry WW ladies! I had Salted Caramel Blondie and the other one which I always associate with B and J – Cherry Garcia. Gosh its good! Then it was into Starbucks for some free wifi and I got a couple of day’s worth of blog uploaded and checked a few emails.
We’d read that the No 67 bus would take us out to the Bellevue Mansions ...
... TV. We’re still having a lovely time – we usually do – but are definitely finding the Holland America experience nowhere near the standard we’ve found with Princess. But talking to other regular HAL travellers they too are finding the whole standard disappointing on this voyage too.
Anyway after omelette for breakfast which was really tasty, we headed back to the cabin and got our walking shoes on ...
After morning exercise, Jane and I drove to a needlepoint store in Barrington, RI. The Picket Fence was a quaint little needlepoint store. We enjoyed the drive, lovely scenery along the coast. After lunch at the Black Pearl, Jane, Buddy & I drove around the area to see the historic mansions. Later in the afternoon, Larry and I enjoyed a drink at the oldest bar in the US and saw one of the oldest churches. Dinner at The Mooring was ...
