Goooood Morrrrnnnnning Vietnam!!!

... anyone to go back out & re-negotiate their purchases with the lady....but we did get our money’s worth in laughs.

We also visited the Reunification building which was the US Embassy (former Presidential Palace) and is now a museum depicting the War in Viet Nam. This is the actual building that the North Vietnamese ran their 2 tanks through the front gate & up the front stairs which ended the war. We visited a few rooms (very hot rooms ...

Botanical Gardens & Military Museum

We would have never of gone here if it wasn't for the germane couple the night before saying it was a good zoo and not a garden. Leah planned (badly as we got lost) a walking tour that involved seeing a foreign food market, department stores and a hot walk to the Zoo. If you walked there straight there from Lui Bein it would take 20 minutes, next to the military museum.
It is well worth a visit even if you don't have long as the ticket is only ...

Champ village by rowing boat and then Saigon

... with passangers had plunged into the river and the people werejust standing aroung in stunned silence. At one point we came across a funeral for one of the passengers.

Saigon was noisy and I found a place in the backpackers area.

FOOTNOTE: I stayed at Duna Hotel which is in District 1. It was very reasonable and close to the markets and reasonable resraurants www.dunahotel.com

Crazy Vietnam

... for quite some time. I was just rather relieved it wasn’t me!
Meanwhile back in Saigon or as it’s now known Ho Chi Minh we were tucking into some Pho. A rather tasty Vietnamese broth. We decided to attempt to defy death crossing the busiest road junction ever. There are no traffic lights or pedestrian crossings anything like that - just simply a sea of bikes and you just have to walk. Slowly and steadily and the million or so bikes just swerve around ...

When it was time to go back to the hotel to get changed for dinner, the driver decided it was back the way we came. Ho **** Mi-pants City - he reversed the whole way back down the street at full speed occassionally glancing in the mirror as hundreds of bikes swerved to miss us. It's not all fun and games

... Vietnam" etc. I also find it strange that American currency is widely used here. Even in the museum they were selling old American soldiers dog tags (that I think MAY be authentic) for $5 USD. I think that's weird.

The museum itself doesn't just talk about the American War, but several wars. It used to be called the "War Crimes Museum" but changed its name because it seemed to off put the tourists....wonder why?!
Outside you've got all this stuff that ...
