... then back to the ship. It was definitely worth the expense and hassle of taking a ship’s tour. Paul and John stayed in town and really enjoyed walking the streets of Santa Cruz.

The ship sailed at 6:00 and we were now on our way for Ft. Lauderdale. 7 straight days at sea lay ahead for us. Can’t wait! More views and comments on the ship itself as we move forward through the ...

... island, far prettier than the south and we stopped at a local restaurant overlooking the sea – no menu so we had grilled fish and a massive mixed salad– big bream – gorgeous, we even had a beautiful Spanish waitress serving us. After lunch we continued around the north of the island and climbed up into the hills on tiny hairpins until we arrived in a stunning hidden valley with a little hamlet perched on the side of the ...

... practice. Tomy played with them, we watched and then then chatted with them. They were very nice and both spoke English... one of them has an American Mom from Minnesota.

Afterwards we ate at a small local bar, with only a few tables. As usual Brody bellied-up to the bar to pay the bill..."la cuenta, por favor".

Historical Traveler Reviews Ocean Beach Aparthotel Playa de las Americas

We just love the Ocean Beach

    from anonymous

Have stayed in this aparthotel every New Year since the first year after it opened - about 10 years now. One bedroomed apartments are the best choice as they all have sea and pool views. Nice Clean place. great staff - many of whom have been there for years. It's nice to go back every year and meet up with them. Also lots of other people from England and Ireland return each year and we have made many friends. Entertainment is good and even if you choose to go self catering you can still pay to have a meal or breakfast in their restaurant if you want to do that. A couple of euros for breakfast and you can eat as much as you like - it's well worth it. Also Juan at the pool bar makes a fab chicken mayo toastie. Although the sunbeds are free you can rent daily the most comfortable padded bed to go on top. You can really enjoy your sunbathing then along with a good book. Can't wait to get back this coming December.

    Not bad

    from anonymous

Just got back from a week at ocean beach. The hotel was ok. we were self catering but were shocked that you had to hire kettle and toaster plus no air con but fans were available to hire. as for the entertainment we went on the first night and didnt go back its very cheesy and not suitable for younger people. The location was great and only a short cab ride from the strip of clubs and bars. would go back to tenerife but not this hotel.

    One more Jimmy boy

    from anonymous

I have just returned from spending a week at the Ocean Beach and I have very much enjoyed most things about my stay. In terms of the room/apartment, it was exactly what we were looking for as a couple. The rooms were clean, spacious and larger than expected, with the addition of a balcony view. The location was very convienient with bars, and restuarants very near by the hotel itself. The Beach was only a short walk away although the walk back is demanding but enjoyable. The only negative note I have about the holiday as a whole is the staff at reception and also the first choice reps. Both parties could really do with having a happy face as a pose to a face that looks as if you are a burden on them. The hotel entertainment was much better than I could have anticipated and there really are some great shows both for the childeren, couples and adults, and the guy James that looks after the entertainment is also very good and works hard at getting everyone involved in the evening, giving his "one more Jimmy Boy" in the Bingo as a regualr theme of any evening. I would recommend this as an ideal location for all parties as everything is well within walking distance including the "strip" of Veronicas so well worth checking out.

    Great

    from anonymous

I spent a week at the Ocean Beach from the 16th to the 24th July with my boyfriend.

We had a great time the hotel was lovely and with the beach, bars and restaurants being so close it made it a great location to stay.

There was some good evening entertainment in the hotel hosted by James the hotel's entertainment guy (who was very friendly).

I did find the reception ladies to never smile and were impolite.

    Overall though a great holiday.

    Ok Holiday

    from anonymous

I stayed at the apartments on June 18 2004, we were located on the ground floor, ok as we had a buggy and that was ideal however it was a big mistake with regards to noise. It was meant to be a family area however was overun with young loud mouths. My baby (15 mths old) was woken a least 3 times a night with the noise of people shouting and singing whilst carrying on going through the corridors and ringing our door bell, i wouldn't have minded as much if it was children, but it obviously wasn't at 4am. This happended every night without fail. This spoilt the holiday a little. The apartment was ideal with regards to size and had a good outlook over the pool and sea. Good entertainment at night. Would stay again. The only complaint was the other noisy guests!!!!! - and please change the poolside CD. The same songs got played over and over again!!!! - i think i know every word of the CD!!!!!

My extended family and i loved this place the pool was lovely the pub manager antonio was a gem and as for jimmy the entertainments manager, we all loved him.The hotel rooms were lovely and clean with great maid service so good that the 4 rooms we occupied all gave the maid a tip, the view from the top floor of the hotel was breath taking you could see the whole island all the staff were helpful and friendly. I would highly recomend this aparthotel for everything you need so much so im on my third visit this summer.

    Spotty Dog

    from anonymous

Have stayed twice in these apts and found them to be very good. One bed apt. was spacious, clean and was adequate for our young family. Nightly entertainment programme was an added bonus. Pool area was well maintained and cleaned every day. The only draw back was the early morning queue for the sun loungers!! Path to the beach is not for the faint hearted. Bring your trainers!! Will definitely be going back!

    Fabulous Holidays

I have stayed at the Ocean Beach 9 times now and am returning for my honeymoon for a month shortly.I find this hotel one of the best i have stayed in.The food is excellent downstairs in the restaurant along with the poolside bar.I highly reccommend the tuna sandwiches. The hotel is of a very good standard and value for money. The entertainments manager Jimmy is fantastic and always has great shows on at night. There is a happy hour every night where drinks are cheap. The local restraunts are loveley and Chaplins oppisite the hotel is fantastic. The pool is cleaned daily and my little girl loves it.There is poolside music playing all day which helps you relax even more. The staff are friendly and helpful and around 24 hours a day.I personally would give this hotel 10 out of 10.The local Troviscas market is a bargain must.
