    Portsmouth has lengthy fortifications leading into a very large working harbour. The navy have an enormous number of ships undergoing various types of repairs and refits. It is also a huge trading port with many ships heading back and forth to Europe and North America. One can also travel to the Isle of Wight easily from there.
