Fri 18th Feb - Ferry down the Saigon river to Vung Tau. Met by Meg and taken to pick up Ella from school before heading to the beach club for a swim - an infinity pool oasis in the littered grey beachscape. Then to the Beer Hoi (sp?) for cheep local beerey liquid. The actual memorial site is a square that has a white coloured cross in the centre; the floor is tiled and there is a chain around the perimeter of the square. Another tour guide was with us and he went and ‘borrowed’ the original plaque to the Aussie regiments that fought here. The local Police station is caretaker of the plaque.
