I woke up rather sore with tendinitis up my arms and shoulders! It was a cool, foggy morning in the Afi mountains. We set off from our free camp 2 kilometres south of Owula to the junction with the Drill ranch.

We arrived early. I had a conversation with on of the workers from the tree nursery. He explained to me the various aspects of the tree replanting programme in the Afi mountains area. I learned about the ...

It rained heavily during the night but the tent kept me dry and comfortable.

After breakfast, I went to say goodbye to Kinini. We did some morning exercises in the reception and then off we went. I took my last anti-malarial tablet this morning. I want to give my body a rest from all this medication. I hope I made the right choice.

We drove out of Calabar on a cool, cloudy morning. ...

Deep in the small area of the little remaining jungle of *****ia is a little ranch. Within that ranch is a bunch of volunteers and countless bananas. Take a deeper look into the ranch and you will find four enclosures. In a nearby enclosure lives a group of enthusiastic chimpanzees. Not far from the chimps are three more enclosures full of monkeys. These monkeys are the reason why the volunteers and bananas are there. These monkeys are Drill Monkeys and ...

Wednesday – We drove from Ikom to Obudu Cattle Ranch. What a place!!! This may have to wait for the pictures to tell much more. Suffice it to say, just remember the luxury the Brits were capable of conjuring in Africa and imagine it sitting up on top of a tall hill/mountain. These accommodations ...

8th - Drove into Gombe where most spent their remaining Naira or to a degree of this. Had a long drive to where we would ultimately bushcamp, long drive in time as opposed to distance. The road had a large amount of potholes of various sizes. We are camping just before Numan and nearby the Benue River. It`s a nice little spot with some trees on one side and quite a bit away from a village.

        Dist cov. = 263 km
