Today we left the amazing Morags Hostel and started heading down the west coast of Scotland. Past Loch Oich and Loch Locchie - which is where the battle of the shirts occured. It was still so hot that most men resumed fighting in just their shirts, or just plain naked!
Then to Ben Nevis which is the highest peak in Scotland and all of the United Kingdom. The Ne...

My rucksack's not as heavy as I thought, which is always good! And, I've very recently sold my car, which of course will bring a massive boost to my traveling budget, although it is wired not seeing it in the car park!
So, just counting down the days now! I'll keep you posted:)

... wet I can see how it would be particularly difficult, but perhaps because this section comes at the start of my day, whereas everyone else does it at the end, it's not overwhelming.
Rob Roy is the focus of the legends for this stage with both Rob Roy's Cave and Rob Roy's Prison on the path. The path to the cave is full of huge rocks and after a few minutes I opt to turn back as I'm pretty sure ...

In the end, we just took off in the general direction we thought was right, and relied on the NavMan eventually saying "re-calculating route". After many twists and turns and small ...
Some of the older historic sites - apparently prehistoric people put cups (or something) in the same place and caused marks in the rocks. Kind of funny that they always chose their meeting places way up on top of hills. Getting too much exercise today.
Also got to see another one of the canal locks.
A rare stop at one of the "National Trust for Scotland" member locations, instead of just "Historic Scotland" locations.
After the driving, thought it would be good to stretch my legs and take a couple of the walks through the gardens. Mainly took the waterfall paths.

So all in all an excellent stopover on the west coast of Scotland. Check out these sites which we noted on our visit to share with others...like you!

... was enthusiastic about CW so he definitely can come back whenever he likes! We were back in Dunstaffnage by 14:30 for a late lunch and a bit of R&R before the evening. This involved a 5 mile walk along the new cycle track into Oban, where we joined John & Fran Hinchliffe and another couple, Sam & Sue of 'Calliope of Menai' at the excellent Italian Pizzaria on the North Pier and then back to CW for night caps, coffee and chocolate and to bed.
Oban, United Kingdom derek_roberts10... yeah, Deb talked Mitch out of it). Deb got a full taste of the legendary stuff on our hike out. We got our customary late start which worked against us as the rain began shortly thereafter. We spent a solid 3 hours on a brisk march, hopping bogs, but the Devine Miss D could not resist the temptation to jump in with both feet. See the results for yourselves. The natural history continued to intrigue. The forest is old growth and varied. It's called podocarp which is ...
