... and screaming. At one point, as we were getting ready to go into the cathedral, a bunch of protesters went running down the street followed by hoardes of cops. It was enough to wake all of us up.
Apparently there was a bombing in Burgos 2 months ago, so there were cops and security everywhere.
Overall...a pretty cool city. I'm glad I'm not living there though. It seems a little too crazy for me.
... of coincidences, she turns out to be the second cousin of Chelo--the mom of the family I'm living with!!!) While we wait for my next bus, I suggest we find the office I have to go to tomorrow to turn in my papers (I couldn't go then because it was closed). Nope, nevermind. The office DOESN'T EXIST.

... my mental improvement, and will now need to be more conscious and make some little efforts to get back on track. As many of my close friends now, i can be a very anxious person. THere are only certain times and circumstances when i can sit still for an extended period of time, not worrying or being jittery about moving onto the next thing. I constantly worry that i am missing something, that i need to go on, keep the ...
Castrojeriz, Castille and León, Spain jciafone... about 100 teenagers waiting to give us bad looks as we staggered in.
A bit frustrated with the morning, not being able to understand the dialogue made our wanderings seem more exhausting.
Off in the morning heat, where we planned to stay at Rabe Del Camino. However, the small hostel was run by a very mean woman who we felt was overcharing us, so we plowed on through the meseta. THe meseta is unbelieveable and i will try to describe it in a later post. THe ...
... up with Simon and the others, who had gone on to the next town instead of staying in san juan the night before.
The hostel was very similar to the one in Santo Domingo: very new (within a year), clean and large. It sort of felt like sleeping in a cupboard, the beds arranged in strange, one'sided, built-in cubicles.
I layed down for a while and chomped on some cookies, getting my blood sugar back up. My blister, which gave me very little pain that ...

Ruth, Kyoon and I went to mass and then we all enjoyed some garlic soup from the hospitalero... delicious! Funny moment when the hospitalero (pilgrim hostel workers) accidently sent his clay bowl sparing through the air while talking to me.
After soup, we sat outside the bar and had ...
... In other parts of Spain we have noticed that villages and towns tend to built on high ground. This morning we descended down into a village then back out.
There were some spots where trees have been planted along the road creating shaded lanes with a bit of the natural cathedrals. There are also thousands of poppies growing in the fields. The red flowers standing out in fields of yellow or green.

Walking together, I come to realise that Christian is a former WOW player, and having been a WOW player myself for a considerable amount of time, there is plenty to talk about. Three hours pass flying. However, walking in the afternoon sun is a very tiresome thing to do and the hours missed in the morning can't be caught up in the afternoon. So when we arrive in Tardajos, the first village outside Burgos, Christian decides to stay ...
Rabé de las Calzadas, Spain prinzniUp early for the flight to the Canary Islands. We had breakfast at "La Sirena Verde", a place just outside of the hotel. It was pretty early - 6 AM - you wouldn't think that any places would be open at this hour in Spain, because everybody is a night owl here and you wouldn't think anybody would be up this early for breakfast. But this is Spain - this restaurant likely wasn't open at 6 AM for early risers, it was probably open for people ...
Corralejo, Spain pwong... with someone who's too chatty or too fast or who keeps whining about having brought too much stuff. Until you reach the refuges, that is. The refuges provide pilgrims with the opportunity to get some human interaction, some stories and some faces and voices. I'd hoped to reach Terradillos de los Templarios by nightfall (Dad's got a thing going for the Knights Templar these days so I thought some pics of Tau-style crosses might interest him) but stopped short at ...
