We thought we were in the desert when we drove between Cairo and Alexandria, but the Egyptian portion of the Sahara Desert is a whole new level. The seemingly endless flat sand plains, broken up by the occasional dunes provide little opportunity to go to the toilet....we don't think we saw a tree for three days except at the two oases that we visited!
