A long twisting 6 hour drive down South is in prospect. Sri Lankan driving goes something like this:- In a 50kph limit do 75kph - no less...... wherever possible head for the backside of a tuk tuk.....honk horn at tuk tuk and pass slowly.......... taking time to smile at the driver .......but only when you have made sure there is ...

... perhaps outside a bus stand or wherever. One of them, perhaps tenth in line, will have watched you decline the first nine who have solicited you and yet he still feels compelled to ask you if you want his tuk-tuk. Why? Because it is a different colour? Because I like the shirt you are wearing? God, they infuriate me but they are a useful way of getting about when you need one. I just wish they could get it into their heads ...

... bunk buddies. James, much to the ladies that lived theres delight, kept forgetting that they were there and heading off to the toilet only to come scampering back in when he came face to face with them in the living room. From the window you could see the beach but since we arrived (and left) in darkness we can't really comment on Dehilawa as a place!
