A long twisting 6 hour drive down South is in prospect. Sri Lankan driving goes something like this:- In a 50kph limit do 75kph - no less...... wherever possible head for the backside of a tuk tuk.....honk horn at tuk tuk and pass slowly.......... taking time to smile at the driver .......but only when you have made sure there is ...

Rachel's summary: Phew! What an incredible few days it's been since we left Colombo where we spent a few nights recovering from our speedy tour of this rich land, or resplendent island to give it's correct translation. It was so happy and sad at the same time, the boys who were left exchanged numbers and addresses and he came and gave us all ...

... a hostel in the fort and after some initial confusion, got checked in. In the evening, we walked around the fort and went to a place that did rice and curry that comes with 10 different curries! We had green beans, cauliflower, mutuwadana leaves (a dark green vegetable), pumpkin, dhal, potato, aubergine, pineapple and capsicum curries, as well as fried fish. It was quite the feast! Back at the hostel, we spent the evening chatting with the other ...

... I get too hot and my arms go numb. Enough complaining. Once our berth was free we made our was into Galle I didn't have too much to do as they already had fenders on the key side - I had got them out and in place - a good practice run I guess. With immigration safely on board doing their thing we next had the assisted climbs: to allow those who need or may need extra help, they either go up the mast with a extra safety rope and a member ...
