A long twisting 6 hour drive down South is in prospect. Sri Lankan driving goes something like this:- In a 50kph limit do 75kph - no less...... wherever possible head for the backside of a tuk tuk.....honk horn at tuk tuk and pass slowly.......... taking time to smile at the driver .......but only when you have made sure there is ...

It will be about a 3 hour drive north of here so we are staying over tomorrow night then going on safari to see the elephants etc early Tuesday morning. Cannot wait to see some elephants in the wild!!!! The wifi will be worse in the jungle so I still won't be able to upload the pictures but will do ASAP. ...

      ... one.

Before he dropped us off in front of the railway station he let us have a look at a very colorful Hindu temple.

Our train departed at 3.30 from Galle. There was no first class available so we travelled in the second class again. This time we didnīt have a seat reservation so we ...

... of oddities. A quick trip to Galle new town revealed a more normal Sri Lankan hub of activity. Also home to the most crazy bus station we've encountered: a sight by itself, even on Poya Day, a mess of buses crammed into every space, 'taxis' lined up in ranks, pedestrians risking life and limb to cross the busy roads, and street vendors in every form hawked their goods.

Back in Galle Fort, the sleepy town had woken up some what. Many Sri Lankans were crowding the ...
