... br>
This was the perfect place to unwind. White-water rafting and fishing is available for those who feel more energetic but I was perfectly happy to just sit and listen to the birds or watch the agamas and squirrels darting about, doing nothing much more energetic than taking a refreshing dip in the pool from time to time. A sundowner cruise on the river was a chance to see it in a different mood and get some sunset photographs ...
Namibia, Kunene, Namibia justeric... Best of all is the superb views of the park and the quietness of it all.

The hike lasts 80 minutes and afterwards most congregate in our room to enjoy some refreshments, enjoy the view and talk about what we did and saw on the hike. The hike is just what everyone wanted to do after so much sitting in the truck. All are feeling revived and energized.

We seem to be getting "touring fat", fat created by eating three times a day and no ...
Waterberg Plateau National Park, Otjozondjupa, Namibia boydandrose... it (mistakenly use it in building their fires). It was a good tip, it doesn’t look that threatening.

In the late afternoon, we spent our time lounging at the campsite and climbing up on the smooth rocks around the campsite. I climbed up just fine; it was the going down that caused me trouble. I listened to the boys (problem number 1) and instead of crawling back down the rock (like a girl) I ran down the rock (like a silly ...
Spitzkoppe, Otjozondjupa, Namibia caralyn... throw up. I literally could not stand it and plugged my nose to keep from gagging. As we approached Gabe and I prepared to be unimpressed, as at this point we’ve seen many seals and it’s not that exciting for us. But these were Sea Lions and the biggest colony I had ever seen. They went on and on, piled up from the beach and stretching down along the waterfront. There were tons in the surf and they were braying mercilessly ...
Spitzkoppe, Erongo, Namibia claraz8... latter 2 are open but quiet as it's the afternoon).

TIP: Ask for the local school kids to come and demonstrate their dances to you. This is an after-school type programme. (it does cost a little money but nothing unreasonable). You WILL get involved whether you want to or not. It's lots of fun!
Spitzkoppe, Kunene, Namibia purplebuggySpizkoppe is one of those amazing places in the middle of nowhere. This is one advantage of going with an overland tour company. You are able to go to the places that you would never be able to make it to on your own. Actually, on our way there we came to a part in the road (the roads are sand or dirt) where another overland truck was already stuck. They had been stuck for like 6 hours. They ...
spitzkoppe, Namibia sarah11011... my breath and I jumped back. It was proper scarey. But amazing. We saw Lions 10 feet from our open van windows and I got butted by a Springbok at our campsite this morning when I came out my tent. We met Himba people in their 'traditional' village and saw rock engravings and paintings thousands of years old. And we laughed, laughed at me getting butted by a Springbok, laughed at Peter and his idiosyncratic way of telling you what the guides were trying to tell ...
Namibia, Namibia alicerosee... an ancient place. Dad and I climbed to the top of one of the mountains and the view was amazing. There are rock pythons and adders here, but we did not see any on the walk. Before we left, a rock python was in the tea room, but it went into the rocks before we saw it. We also saw lots of huge igamas - they have red heads and tails with blue and white on their stomach, backs, and feet. They look like they are doing ...
Twelfontein, Damaraland, Namibia zolab... We first looked for the elephants at the water hole in the village, and then Lister followed the tracks for a while. About an hour later, we saw them - 26 wild desert elephants!!! They were amazing and are from two herds, the Oscar and the Rosie herds. There are also lots of babies - two of the babies are only 2 months old and so cute! We watched the babies play around - one of them laid down and a smaller baby tried to step on it and make it get back up! We also stayed ...
Twelfontein, Damaraland, Namibia zolab... Llandudno school. It was cool to meet him. Tomorrow we are going out to look for desert elephants, which are not the same as African elephants, and I hope we find them. I also lost a tooth today, while we were driving to Doros Nawas. I will never forget this day, because (1) Barack Obama became president of the USA, (2) I went sandboarding and quad biking for the very first time ever and found my first scorpion, and (3) I lost a tooth! Crazy! Yeah President Obama!!!!
