San Francisco
California Dreaming
... a seat (thank goodness) and the feeling that I was seeing SF for real! The cable car dropped me at Fishermans Wharf, so I felt I should spend some time exploring here – but really wish I hadn't bothered – touristy, tacky and full of fast food – yuck! Anyway, Alcatraz was fantastic - you could really get a feel for what it was like there, and the cells are so much smaller when you see them in the flesh, than in photos - they are tiny.
We did the 'free' audio tour, which was well worth it and got locked into one of the solitary confinement cells by a park ...

Crossing the International Date Line meant we took from Auckland at 8:00 pm Saturday, November 19th and returned to San Francisco at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 19th. It makes you wonder if it's just a side effect of no sleep.
