We rapidly departed this area and headed up to Lombard Street which is the steep bendy street bordered by flowers that everyone associates with San Francisco. It is very pretty, although obviously a popular tourist stop-off. We were immediately reminded of exactly how hilly the city is, just on the mile or so walk across town, some of them so steep that stairs had been cut into the sidewalk!
