We decided to drive along the coast up to Santa Monica. Once in the area we began to look for parking and it didn’t quite go to plan. Initially we parked in a $15 pay and display car park. From here we detoured from the Route 66 Track to do a trip to Death Valley, Yosemite (pronounced Yo sem iti) and Sequoia where temperatures were expected to reach 118 degrees F.
