... MLK holiday weekend, so extra busy I am sure. Found a parking spot in Santa Monica, started walking around, stumbled onto a great Mexican restaurant Lula's, not busy. Good service, good food, cold beer, EXTRA strong margaritas. Came back through Malibu Canyon - beautiful drive, but again, SO dry. ... Once you get to Venice beach area that's when all the crazy shops along the beach appear along with bars and places to eat and also lots of medicinal marihuana shops and of course crazy people. We stopped at Venice beach and locked up our bikes near a bunch of food vans at a skate park area and walked along in front of the shops and buskers for a while. ... Santa Monica. We had brilliant sunshine for most of the day. But for the first time in 7 days we had clouds, actually a marine layer of fog, which enveloped us about 10 miles north of the pier. Sorry for the photo quality as a result. All the riders regrouped together about 15 miles north of the pier and rode two abreast as one long train about 1/4 mile long. Again, we were escorted by the police and fire departments.
