It is made up of fresh water but it might as well be a sea as its 118 miles wide and 307 miles in length.     ... its friendly people, and that certainly was our experience. People were very poor, but I am reminded of the distinction between poverty and destitution. Poverty has to do with not having stuff. Destitution affects the soul. It seems to occur most often when people are removed from the land and live in the slums of cities. The villagers certainly had a minimum of "stuff", but they were surrounded by family and community.
