... were cheap and didn't buy a GPS because we thought that we could make do with Google maps and a big road atlas from Walmart. In the end that worked out fine because we had access to a lot of free Wifi at McDonalds, Starbucks and Tim Hortons. But I'm sure the time it took to navigate and find wifi could have been saved by just punching in an address into a Tom Tom. I'm a little bit old school; I like being a control freak and having a map in hand.

... tunes and the weather was fine as I drove south. I would stay in Florida for an undetermined length of time. Fort Lauderdale might be a semi-permanent home for the foreseeable future. ... a sail on the way back, but they have a lot of trouble getting the mainsail set, as the reef points are wrong, and the lazy-jacks tangle with the sail. The woman mate sorts most of it out, but the deck hands are pretty useless, and the full width canopy prevents the skipper from seeing what is going on without leaving the wheel and allowing the boat to fall away to leeward. Some newer ropes on the reef points would doubtless make the crew work easier.
