We flew to San Francisco first, then endured a 14 1/2 hour flight to Hong Kong. Half way over the Pacific Jim asked me "Why are we doing this?" "Just crazy" I countered. The student rioting seemed to be escalating, but no one had contacted us to cancel the trip. We arrived Friday evening (13 hours time change) and crashed in our lovely room (Sheraton) overlooking Hong Kong Harbor. We had to sleep "fast" because Jim's nephew, John, and wife, Hallie planned to pick us up at 11:00 ...

... than waiting another 45 minutes for fireworks.

Culvers ice cream was great and we enjoyed time talking and eating in their cool restaurant. We didn't see fireworks but that was ok!

The restaurant was closing and we felt bad still being inside so we finished up, went outside, did a few family pictures and said our goodbyes.

We had a great day, did a lot of fun things, spent special time with family and survived the heat!

... a dog section and that was good! I wanted a house away from dog noise! Now, suddenly, everyone around us has dogs! I do not think that should have happened. We had planned to go out for a roasted chicken and eat here at home but it is raining and we decided on beans, garlic bread and 3 of the Italian sausages I had put in my suitcase when we came here! A good meal. Tonight we decided to read Dracula outloud—one chapter a night and Phil is reading it. He has read it ...
