So back to the States today. It was with some sadness but a lot of excitement we left Mexico today. For pete it was a bit like getting out of jail, for me it was about going somewhere different and exciting, but at the same time we really loved the cultures, the climate, the people, the landscape, the food, the swimming in old Mexico. All packed and ready to leave for New Zealand for my study abroad at Lincoln University through UIUC-ACES. I still have some enrollment details to finish but I have a but of time to take care of that when I am on campus. Housing and transport to campus have already been arranged. Since I only have about 32 hours left in the US I am making sure to get some good Chicago food before I go as well as some time with my family.

Back in the city for our free night, I took advantage of another pretty evening and walked north of the river up to Peal Street, which is known for its bustling shops and restaurants. We have arranged to lunch with Anita, another contact from Hospitality website. Decide on Ed Debevic's (502 of 4575 on Trip Advisor) 1960's theme restaurant/diner, quite close to home. The diner has aluminium edged Formica tables, ribbed shiny vinyl bench seats, a lot of chrome and walls covered with photos and wisecrack signs. The staff make a point of giving customers a hard time, but it is all pretty good humoured. ...
... the last stop for today was at 2:00 due to the Chicago Classic Football Game at Soldier Field just down the street. It was 1:57, so we hurried to the buses and were able to purchase a ticket and get on the last bus. This is a narrated tour of 14 points of interest taking 2 hours if you don't hop on or off, which you are allowed to do. The stop after the Field Museum was the Sheraton Hotel.
