... separate directions VERY early on a Sunday morning. I was grateful for this timing because I had to drive straight through the centre of London, in a strange (manual) car and lots of road changes. Fortunately, Google Maps gave me excellent visual and audible instructions and the road signs were clear. I breathed a sigh of relief when I finally got to the M1 (freeway)! First stop - Bolton. I think it was about a 4 hr drive to Bolton - a vast distance by ...

... and we had a second stop there. Again it was very busy with loads of tourists and their big camera's. ... and blackberry pie ever! Then we began the 3 hour drive to Edinburgh. Initially the NavMan took us a very interesting back way to get to the M6 where the roads were frequently signed with 'Road liable to icing' signs. We also went on a one lane road where when we came across a car coming in the other direction things became a little tricky in our rather large station wagon. Needless to say "Well done Jason!" We made it ...

... was delighted to go into 3 large camping stores within minutes. Apparently this part of the UK is all about the camping and hiking. It was then only a short drive down into Windermere. We found it a little tricky to find our B&B, but once we had we were not disappointed. Lingwood Lodge is a lovely 6 room B&B on the sunny side of a little hill almost over looking ...
