The apartment is well laid out and good facilities. Great to have a washing machine and dryer. Views from 27th floor were great. Reception staff very helpful. Wi fi only available for an hour a day should be available all the time!

Top spot to stay - the cultural end of town.

Recently had a great stay at this lovely new apartment complex. We got a two bedroom apartment for hubby and I and our two children. It is brand spanking new and well appointed. The second bedroom was a bit stuffy with no external windows and the air-con struggled - this was after two days of 40+ degree heat, so it was not surprising. I would like to see an additional lock on the door as our active 3 year old could open the door with ease.

It was really convenient to train and tram services (just over the road), a short walk to the museum and lots of parks nearby too. The staff seem to have got things sorted out, I managed to blow up the hairdryer and a replacement arrived within minutes of my distress call.

The lobby is fine and there are now toilets avaliable as well as somewhere to leave your bags upon check out. Overall a very pleasant stay - we'll be back.

          Fantastic place

We were pleasently suprised by the Oaks. We paid $140AUD for a1 bedroom suite and it was brilliant. The suite was very large and very clean. The kitchen was much bigger than average suite hotels and very well kitted out with brand new gear.

The staff were extremely helpful and accomodating-they accomodated our early check in and late check out without complaint.

The location is great-a 15min walk to Federation Square and a 2min walk to a stop on the free tourist bus.

          Ganz neu, angenehmer Aufenthalt

          Brand new, great experience

We stayed here for five days as a family group in two apartments: a one- bedroomed and a two- bedroomed. The building was in the final stages of completion which meant that the foyer wasn't fitted out and there were workmen in the entry but really didn't affect the stay. I believe there will be a coffee shop in the foyer when it is completed.

Both units were contemporary, well fitted, had balconies and the two bedder had two bathrooms! There is a 24 hour convenience store next door so self catering was a breeze. However if you want to eat out there are many restuarants, cafes and bars in the area.

The location is fantastic: it is in the "Paris" end of Melbourne around the corner from theatres, the Greek precinct and Chinatown. The city circle tram is just a couple of mins walk away as is the tram to St Kilda. The train station is even closer. It is also an easy ten minute walk to Fitzroy Gardens.

We took advantage of the downhill walk to the shopping area and then enjoyed a $5 taxi ride back with our spoils.

          We'd definitely stay there again.

          Loved Oaks on Lonsdale!!

I stayed at Oaks on Lonsdale for NYE for 2 nights and it was fantastic.

We were in a 2 bedroom apartment, with a south facing balcony so we had a great view of St. Pat's Cathedral, the MCG, the Dandenongs, Port Phillip Bay, and the whole CBD.

Our apartment was really big and had two bathrooms. I met some other people at the hotel who also had a two bedroom apartment, but their's was a lot smaller and the configuration wasn't very good. So I would suggest to check what type of configuration and room size if that is important to you.

Also everything was brand new which was fantastic. Plasma screen TV, and also a flat screen TV in one of the bedrooms.

The only setback was the fact that Oaks on Lonsdale is in the back corner of the city. This shouldn't be a problem if you are going to the theatres or if you are going shopping. But if you are going to the Myer Music Bowl for example, it's probably better to walk down to Swanston St. and get a tram.

The other problem is that their pillows are soooo big and fat and hard. The pillow was literally 20 cm high and it gave me a really stiff neck. So if you are particular about your pillows, then maybe bring your own!!

          Good Location, new apartment hotel

Recently stayed at Oaks on Lonsdale in Melb for a weekend stay. They are totally new as in new building and new hotel. We must have been first in the room because even the water wasn't connected!

Ok so after a small panic at not being able to find anything for Sat night (1st Dec) on wotif, I contacted this property direct. There are Oaks apartments in Adelaide which are quite good and they have a decent rep so thought I'd try. The Oaks on Collins and Market were booked out that night. The booking office said that Oaks on Lonsdale were doing their own bookings and so I called them and got a good rate $139 per night.

The "room" was a 1 bedroom apartment on the 18th floor. The building had 29 floors. There is a car park within the building ( a rare thing for Melb). But the parking is pricey at $25 a night I think.

The apartment was huge for my Mum and me, and so fresh and new.

The beds were comfy but the pillows were very high.

The bathroom was also spacious. Nothing special but clean and had towels and toiletries.

The kitchen had everything one might need to put together a meal although we just had breakfast every morning.

They came and fitted a TV in the bedroom the next day but there was a good sized flat screened TV in the lounge room.

The location was ideal. It's between Spring Street and Exhibition Street. There's an IGA supermarket next door and MANY restaurants within 5 mins walking distance. The Greek precinct is just a couple of mins walk down Lonsdale Street and China Town is just around the corner. The theatre are all around and once again 5-10 mins walk. There is a free tourist tram that circles the city only a block up the road and the free tourist shuttle bus can be caught a couple of blocks away. Location was superb because we were in town but still had a bit of quiet. A taxi from the hotel to Crown Complex cost us $8 one way.

Ok now for the cons - they are new so they are finding their way around. When I called after getting to the room and finding that there was no water, the girl at the reception had no idea how to respond. Finally one of the guys came up and fixed the problem. It took all of 10 mins but I had go down and find someone who could help myself.

There is no lobby, so no place to sit and wait for our shuttle. Also no toilets in the "lobby" so we had to go across the street to public toilets in a office building after we came back to pick our bags after checking out. Their idea of extended check out - 10am. But all in all nice place to stay and great location.
