... called into Rollingstone en-route to search for the camping area that we had been unable to locate on the way up. It was clear why, when we realised that it was actually some way off the main highway. It was a quiet and pleasant stopping place beside a creek with a swimming hole, which claims to allow up to 48 hours camping without charge. However, we talked to a hairy motorcyclist there who says that the rangers are not really concerned provided you are quiet and keep ...
Townsville, Queensland, Australia jenandtony... to visit turned out to be ‘The Strand’, the 2.5km foreshore precinct. The Strand has been beautifully developed with luscious green grass and foliage, heaps of picnic areas and playgrounds and two fantastic water activity areas, all of this looks magnificent set against Magnetic Island as the backdrop. The first water park we discovered was an instant hit with Jacob, Claire was not too impressed as it was essentially a playground with water ...
Townsville, Queensland, Australia serenitynow... past the Big Mango, (but does it count as a proper Big sighting as we saw it in the failing light and didn’t even stop to look at it properly), which is located near Bowen. The journey got more interesting as Paul got stopped by Five – 0 (or for non Wire viewers, the Police) for speeding. He was doing 117km on a 100km road. This is the main road, the Bruce Highway, which runs all along the Eastern coast of Australia. At bit like the M1 but ...
Magnetic Island, Queensland, Australia busafamEarly start this morning as Jeremy had the car booked in for a general service. To get somewhere we had to catch the bus which the boys thought was great adventure. Jeremy took Ethan and Elijah to Reef HQ which is a big aquarium and underwater setup. They seemed to enjoy it - especially the icecream afterwards! While they went ...

Magnetic Island, Queensland, Australia bpippert... back, a kangaroo crossed our way!!We were thinking "ok, now we are in Australia". We drove up the mountain to see the other waterfalls. The view from the driving would have been nice except in was the end of the day and the fog was settling in. Every two kilometer on the road, you pass a creek. I don't know how they can even still find names for their creeks. We are actively looking for Dawson's creek! <br>Slept in Townsville
Townsville, Queensland, Australia leprefrog... a great mitzvah doer. The seder table was set for about 60 people, but around 30 came, mostly Israelies. I sat with a few Israelis who were travelling together, and a girl called Mia Rosenblatt. She's originially from Liverpool, grew up on Quarry Street, now lives in East Finchley and goes to Muswell Hill Shul. Very small world. The Israelis all thought I was Israeli, which was nice. Must be the tan. One girl had started to talk to me in Hebrew when I came ...
