... in the funniest positions, wedged between the branches of trees so that they don't fall out, I've taken lots of photos. After Australia zoo we had a BBQ. All over the cities and suburbs are public BBQs which are free to use. You take your food and drink and relax around a picnic table, I wish we had these in Liverpool! I don't think we can always be sure of the BBQ weather though.<br ...

Kids workshop with artist Hiromi Tango

This Sunday, Klara went to a workshop held at the Gallery of Modern Art. Hiromi Tango facilitated the session over the span of a few hours, where kids (and some adults) all contributed their personal bits to a tent, which all culminated into a very temporary installation art piece, even containing live people. When Hiromi asked Klara what she'd like to make, Klara immediately began cutting ...

... the airport for 6.30 - flight was at 7am (gotta love online check-in and carry on luggage). I was astounded that they don't even ask for ID on internal flights in Oz! I had my passport with me and Gary was like seriously they won't even ask for your drivers license let alone your passport. And they didn't. I could have had the name Osama Bin Laden on my boarding pass and they wouldn't have blinked.
It took about two hours to fly to Brisbane and when we ...

... later once we'd gotten over the shock it was clear that the kangaroos and wallabies of the sanctuary are free just to roam around as they please as they were everywhere and on constant vigilance for some going seeds. Ooops silly us.
There were also loads of crocodiles here and we watched the feeding show which was great but scary. Dan tried to poke one of them with the handlers stick through the cage but just succeeded in dropping the stick in the enclosure ...

... we saw there back in 1988!) is about the only remnant still there from Expo.
- possibly a drink/meal at the well known Regatta Hotel
- there's also a few parks en route and the Queensland University - set in a pleasant campus.

... but we really enjoyed the area around Sandygate, with Lindsey's cousin, daughter and also one of her son's and family living nearby - pleasant for walks along by the sea or into the village, and socialising with family.

Days 77-78 - Brisbane, Queenslandþ

... Brisbane was the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and the Australia Zoo. Established in 1927, Lone Pine is the world's best koala sanctuary. Although there were only two koalas when the park opened (Adam and Eve), there are now over 130 of the fuzzy creatures. We saw nearly all of them, had a cuddle and photo with one and found out some interesting facts: Koalas are often incorectly referred to as 'koala bears', when in fact they have no relation to bears and are in fact ...

When you think of Australia you think of sunshine, right? Apparently were expereincing some freak queensland weather where it disguises itself as Scotland. Its been pishing down for days! My beautiful tan has faded and andys freckles have calmed down a little. ehe. When the sun finally broke through ...

... and phoned him yesterday but didn't get a chance to meet up. Last night Ricardo's cousin took us to a turkish place for supper. It was good....except for the lamb. It just tastes so weird. Ricardo and I have made a list of our things we've learned in Auz. 1) Cars not people have the right of way, run for your life when crossing the road b/c the majority of people will rev their engine or sometimes even speed up if they see you crossing. 2) Apparently ...

Head swimming with warnings of scams and Tuk Tuk Drivers taking one for a ride, but eager to enjoy the experience nonetheless. Bangkok and Hong Kong little more than five weeks away - time to disregard the butterflies and to look to the future - Let the fun begin.
