G,day All,

Well here we are on the big bird heading for Toronto and then on a shuttle to Niagara Falls, the flight was full so no spare seats and the day was good they said it would be a nice flight and only 7 and a half hours across the pond. We arrived at the Toronto airport got the bags and away we went on a shuttle the traffic was not …

... several time that day. Later we went to the recommended trail that was quite close to the campsite. Every time we look down upon the gorge we would see people on black tubes with yellow helmets and red life jackets having the time of their lives. There was one part in the trail that was named "hole in the rock". We decided that we should check this out before our curiosity got the best of us. The reason it was called hole in the rock was quite simple it was a ...

... much food! Fried Chicken, Seafood, Salads, Hotdogs, Bagels, Cookies, a CAKE! amazing!! :)

When we got to the Canadian border, the Canadian police took 4 of them aside, because they had previous criminal records, and they weren't allowed in!! so they had to be escorted out of Canada!! They weren't very happy, and they tried to bribe the police to get them in!!

All in all, a VERY interesting journey!!

... great meals in Niagara Falls, first a steak at an Italian restaurant, which was the first time either of us had felt like meat since arriving in Louisiana and discovering the delights of the sea. We pretty much stuck to seafood in one form or another all the way up the east coast, but magically when we started inland heading west, our desire for meat returned. The kids have been largely unaffected by regional variations; hamburgers, ...

For the price, you can't beat this hotel! We enjoyed our short stay and loved being able to walk only a few steps and right at the main attraction, Niagara Falls.

    Special Meaning.........

    from

When we got married in 1999, we stayed at the Oaks Inn (before renovations) and it was a Honeymoon we'll never forget.

We had a fallsview room and it was breathtaking!!

Although we can't stay in the same room as our honey moon, this hotel will always be "our special place", right along side Niagara Falls.

    Loved the view

    from

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. We had a very nice jacuzzi suite overlooking the falls, and it was great having nothing in front of you to block your view. Great time......will go next time to the same hotel, but in the summer not the winter. It was really cold and the weather was bad for the first night so we didn't get to see anything until the next morning. On the other hand it was a good idea coming at this time due to the great prices.

Wonderful hotel and nice staff who made you feel welcome.

PS I will be coming back in April or May when the new casino opens there. The hotel is right beside it!

    Loved it!

    from

In Dec. my family decided to visit Niagara Falls, Canada for the first time. The Oakes Hotel added to the magic of this trip. Our view from room 1919 was spectacular. The room itself was immaculate and cozy. The staff, including Dan, Shannon, and and Nicole, were wonderful, courteous, and very accommodating! I'd like to thank them for their help, kindness, and smiles. I look forward to our second trip to the Falls. We'll definitely stay at the Oakes again!

Great Night with great night look on the falls

    from

It was great stay @ this hotel that is still under some construction but that didnt affect our stay. It was one of the amazing view from our bedroom on the falls , rooms are clean and jacuzzi tub in the premier suite is wonderful for relaxation after long walks around the falls. I'm recommending this hotel to anyone to go and check this place. To the hotel : You are one of the best places on the falls because of Your location and Your room view. Thank You .

Alot Better than the last time

    from

Well after reading these reviews I had to post my own. The people that had a bad time obviously had a bad experience but it doesn't mean that everyone will. I have stayed at this hotel twice. I came in May.the pool was closed and the ovberservation level was not finished, and yes there was alot of stuff going on. I wasn't too happy at first but the staff was the good thing. They were great, the front desk staff was very frendily and helpful and made my stay wonderful. If it wasn't for the front desk staff it probably weouldn't have been that great. The staff said to come back when everything was finished. We did listen and came back at the end of October and we had a wonderful stay. We loved our room We stayed in oneof the fallsview rooms and we were on the 20th floor! Great view and great hotel. I love what they have done to this place. Alot better then in May. I feel sorry for the hotel becuase these people that have put bad comments are taking business away from them. They have made alot of changes and these people obivously stayed in the summer months and not everything was finished. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but some of this stuff sounds a bit over the top. I would come back again for sure. It will be a hreat location when the new casino opens.

    Awful!

    from

My family and I reserved 3 rooms at the Oakes and had a problem with each. The first room had a VERY bad smell to it, the second was very smokey and the third was alright. In the first room the water spicket in the tub never stopped and we found bee nests in the rooms and I'm very allergic to bee stings. In the third room there were also spider webs on the ceiling and their coffee pot didnt work at all. We called to find out where the ice machine was and they said on the 4th floor and it was really on the second floor in the tower. I strongly advise to not go here, It has a great location to the falls but that is about the only thing we enjoyed about our hotel.

    Big Disappointment

    from

Our stay was for two nights in August and was a very big disappointment. First we booked our reservation online and were impressed with the description of the facility. However, almost immediately upon arrival we became disappointed for several reasons. 1. The website had stated that the renovations were completed on April 18, 2003---to our dismay they were no where near complete. The hallways were disgusting--and not just from construction debris. Our stay was almost four months after their so called completion date--more than enough time for them to have updated that info on their website. 2. A selling point from their website was their "New Fallsview Observation Lounge" for their guests to view the falls---Unfortunately it was not yet completed. 3. Our room was advertised as a "Standard Courtyard Room" with outdoor access--In reality our room was on the second floor--no outdoor access and no courtyard (the rooms in this area on the first floor had outdoor access to a parking lot NOT a courtyard!--VERY MISLEADING advertising on their website. 4. Our room also did not have a fire escape route posted--this was brought to the attention of the front desk staff and we were assured they would bring one right up. We did not receive it until the next afternoon, at which time a DO Not Disturb sign was on the door because our daughter was ill--and the staff knocked and knocked until she came to the door--very inconsiderate.I also sent a letter to the hotel with our above complaints--letter was sent on August 18, 2003. To date, I have not received a reply. This hotel has great potential with its location next to the new casino being built and also next to the incline railway to the falls. I feel they were offering very misleading info on their website.

    Don't Stay at this dump!!!!

    from

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Worst hotel stay EVER!! We had to move 4 times to find a room that was somewhat acceptable - the first room had a strong "cleaning" liquid smell, the second and third had a strong cheap wood smell, and finally they upgraded us to an 8th floor room that still had an odor but was better then the others. When we were turning down the bed for the night we found the pillowcase had a blood stain on it, and we found a COCKROACH in the bathroom the next morning. The staff were unfriendly, and rude. They didn't believe us about the smell of the rooms (didn't even bother to come up with us) and felt we were only complaining to receive a free upgrade (so not true because we spent the next night at the Sheraton for DOUBLE what we paid at the Oakes!)We were more then willing to pay for room had it been worth it - its not. The hotel is totally under constuction - alot of mess, paint smells and workmen. We only stayed the one night because since we made a reservation, if we left, they were going to charge us anyways. RIP OFF!!The hotel has possiblities and will be a great location once the new casino is finished but I they seem to be doing things very cheaply. They need to remove the "Luxury" from their ads. This is no better then any of the other motels down the strip.I will say that the higher Fallsview rooms have a great view but it just doesn't make up for the awful experience we had.Don't waste your time or your money!!

    Wonderful Stay

    from

My family recently stayed at the Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls. We received great rates and it was clean with a wonderful view of the Falls. The people were accomodating and there was one particular girl who spoke japanese , which helped my Aunt/Uncle and Mother. She was very pleasant and friendly. I have recommended people especially on a budget to check this hotel. The one perk was the fact there was a seated ride down to the falls - which was only $1.00 CAN /$.70 US. You can't beat that.

    Never stay at this dump!!!!!!!

    from

This has to be the worst hotel I ever stayed at. The pictures and comments look good but wait till you get there. Rooms were filthy and shabby. I switched twice...same thing!!! They say you have Falls view but forget to tell you you still can't see them for the trees, weeds, fences, etc. till your above the sixth floor.....but they still charge you top buck for a falls view room even if you are below the sixth floor. You have to wonder why

Days Inn still lets them display their name. Nothing but a money grab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A roadside motel would be better.
