... we stopped for cheese, and we stopped in Sparta Wi home of the bicycle AND the fiberglass graveyard. It was an interesting adventure to say the least. Lots of fun though and plenty of giggles. The fiberglass graveyard had a lot of itchy grass and bugs but we survived. Ending for the night in Mn only to keep on truck in' in the morning. Are we having fun ...

Today was a drive day so we got up early and packed up and hit the road. The drive all up was about 700 km so a big day in a van towing a trailer. It was a pretty uneventful drive with a couple of stops at gas stations along the way. ... we went into town (Waseca) where there was a County Band Competition It began with a street parade. We lined up with hundreds of others and watched as classic cars - corvets, mustangs etc - old fire engines, cars carrying the 'queens', and 10 college bands with their drum majors and the girls that threw their flags and danced. Some of them were very polished - I thought the best was the one that used the Mary Poppins music complete with Sweeps, chimneys, umbrellas ...

... awake about 6, made tea on alcohol stove -- success. Cereal, milk, juice, fruit. Packed up and out about 9.25. Stopped in town of Nerstrand for ice -- little store that sold cheese and their own sausage. Bought thuringer.

... chatting time enroute. We all found out that no matter the distance, it pretty well took us 12 to 14 hours on the road every day. How we spent the time was important. Knowing that we'd all be tired and retreat to our rooms after dinner every night, long rest stops and picnic lunches seemed to be the best ways to maximize time with each other. We had to remember that the fun was in the journey! We also had to factor in emergency stops. As you recall, on several occasions, there were calls ...
